Here is a step by step guide to creating your Avatar.
Click "Profile" (top) - "Modify Profile" - Scroll down and you'll see you can pick an avatar from the drop down menu.
Or you can create your own Avatar by uploading your picture to www.tinypic.com and pasting the Image code into the "Avatar URL" Box. Make sure you resize your Image to 100x100 pixels before uploading to Tinypic.
